Wine Trivia Pursuit

Test your knowledge of wine, wine growing, and history in this fun and educational game led by the Mountain Winery Sommelier. Sip on Mountain Winery wines while you pool your knowledge with coworkers to see who really knows their stuff!

The Sommelier Challenge

The Mountain Winery Sommeliers have created tasting notes for 4 of our wines.  Guests will learn about the structure and flavor profiles of the various varietals in the tasting.  They will then put their new skills to work trying to “identify” which wine is which in a blind tasting. This class is fun and informative for the novice as well as the wine aficionado.

Create Your Own Wine

Be a winemaker for a day in this fun, fast paced blending activity. Guests are divided up into teams of 4-6 people. Each team will have 30 minutes to experiment with 3 different varietals of wine to create the perfect blend! Teams must create a brand name for their wine and present a marketing pitch to The Mountain Winery Sommelier as to why this wine must be carried at the Chateau Deck Restaurant! Teams will be scored in 3 categories: flavor, creativity and teamwork

Length of Class: 1 Hour

Includes wine for blending and blending equipment

The Mountain Winery Wine Olympics

The event will begin with your arrival and welcome glass of wine.  After a brief orientation, we will divide your group into teams and each team member will compete for their team in one of the many events.  After the competition, the judges will tabulate the results.

The events will be wine related, but to varying degrees.  Wine aficionados can prove their expertise by competing at blind tasting several different wines.  A trivia competition will reveal who knows the most about the wines of California and beyond.  Newcomers to wine will be less intimidated by creating their team's wine brand -- designing a label and marketing campaign that pushes the boundaries of the industry (and sometimes the boundaries of good taste).  Wine will be flowing freely at each event, and our sommeliers will be on hand to educate the contestants and answer questions.  At the conclusion of the evening, we will reveal the results.  Most enjoyable is the presentations of the marketing campaigns -- those who can make the group laugh hardest are usually the winners.
